Backpacking in Poland: Cycling in Gdańsk with Mika on the Road and Hostel Cycle On
When I arrived in Gdańsk in Poland, I booked into the hostel Cycle On. Immediately from the title you get the idea that the guys that run the hostel, Piotr and Pawel are big cyclists. In my dorm room, by chance I met the lovely Mika. Mika is a Taiwanese traveller and runs the page and blog, Mika on the Road. Mika and I decided on a day of cycling through Gdańsk. We actually cycled north to Sopot.

I normally write detailed posts on what to see and do in cities like Gdańsk, Poznan and Krakow, but this time, with being so busy here, I will simply share the excellent video Mika made of our day out and a few photos. I’ve seen a lot of the city already, as well as having ventured north to Gdynia for a food tour with Eat Polska. Gdańsk is drenched in history – did you know the second World War started here? Ouch, yes an attack in the former “Free city of Danzig” was the opening catalyst that led to World War 2 on 1st September 1939.

I’m kind of digging that song that Mika used for that video.
