A Bad End To 2007: Footloose and Legless

After a crazy year in 2007 where I was on 34 aeroplanes, 3 boats and numerous trains, buses, trams and cars the year ended with a not so lucky break! I have now visited 29 countries, but am left with a broken leg – well foot really – 3 metatarsals.

I managed to break three metatarsal bones in my right foot and I’m not even a professional footballer! It was something that had been coming for ages I reckon, a kick up the backside and something which has actually totally affected how I live my life. It’s now almost 10 weeks with various bandages, straps and plasters on my right leg and in that time I have managed to do nothing except watch TV, read magazines and books and spend 90% of my time indoors!

In 2004 I broke my arm and it took 6 weeks to heal, this one will be 12 weeks minimum now which is fairly annoying, but life is much too good to get worried about it. I have been off work since the start of December and off university since the start of January due to this unfortunate fall. Who would have though that falling over in a nightclub would have result in 3 bone breaks? Not me! Anyhow I’ve finally got my computer up and running again and hopefully when my foot heals I will be ready to ‘not stop living’ all over again!

On the good news, my friend Nina from Munich (whom I met in Toronto and New York last summer) will visit me in Bournemouth in March and we hope to visit some sights in England. I have also booked flights to Slovenia, Slovakia and Italy later in the year. Three countries I haven’t yet been to and I also get to watch two Northern Ireland matches during those trips!

Try not to stop living!
