Getting to Koh Lanta

Although there is now a bridge connecting Koh Lanta to the mainland, it is still possible to get there by ferry or speed boat. The number of visitors using these services has declined, but they remain a real option for travelers that are not already on the mainland. From the mainland, taking a flight from Bangkok to arriving on the island, using the bridge crossing, takes just 3 hours.

Island hoppers exploring the treasures of the Andaman Sea can get to Koh Lanta from Koh Ngai and Koh Muk to the South and, from the North, Koh Pu, Koh Jum, Koh Sriboya and Phi Phi. There are also the larger islands to the West, Phuket, Koh Yao Yai and Koh Yao Noi. All of these islands operate ferry and power boat services to Koh Lanta.

What to do on Koh Lanta?

Dotted around Koh Lanta there are rocky outcrops which rise up out of the sea like towering granite beasts, each topped with lush flora. Together they create an islet maze whish simply must be explored. Caves and tunnels, eroded into the rocks over millions of years, deliver, what can only be described as, the most incredible “Wow” factor you are ever likely to see.

Cruise on still rivers through the mangroves or shower under a cooling waterfall, there are few experiences not to be had on Koh Lanta.

Staying on Koh Lanta

Hostels, homestays, beach huts and bungalows, villas and top of the range hotels, there is no shortage of accommodation on Koh Lanta. With prices starting from around 350 Baht a night, such as at Dox Ko Lanta, there is something to suit every budget. Beach huts and villas overlooking the beautiful blue waters of the Andaman Sea can be rented from around 500 Baht a night.

Going more up market, there are fabulous hotels 3, 4 and 5 star hotels where prices can reach 4,000 Baht a night. Twin Lotus Resort, is an adults-only beachfront resort that has on offer every luxury imaginable. Cha-Da Beach Resort, Baan Thai Lanta and Pimalai Resort are all excellent places to stay with varying tariffs, but all offer excellent facilities and service. With most accommodation on, or very near, a beach, nothing is badly situated.
