Thru the Q: An Easier Way to Get to the USA

I’m pretty excited at this new idea, whereby you don’t have to go through customs and immigration on arrival in the USA. After a flight to the US on arrival you have a customs procedure which can take up to 45 minutes to get through depending on which airport, time of year, queues, delays etc. But now, there is a way to avoid all of that thanks to Aer Lingus Thru the Q!! This is brilliant for anyone based in Europe and especially the UK and Ireland.

Thru the Q: How to arrive in the USA without having to go through Immigration.

So my friends, if you fly from Dublin in the Republic of Ireland with Aer Lingus to the USA, you can do your US immigration now in Dublin Airport, which means that on arrival in the actual USA, you are already legal, so you feel like a domestic passenger! Also this flight options applies to 20 airports in mainland United Kingdom too – London, Aberdeen, Manchester etc. So basically all you need to do is get your ESTA online, then book your flight to NYC via Dublin Aiport using Aer Lingus where you can clear US customs and border protection in Dublin before you take off! I’m aiming to be one of the first travel bloggers to put this to the test later in the year but I’ll need your votes to get me through it (vote for me here).

Aerlingus Thru the Q from Dublin to the USA

Fly the smart way to the USA with Aer Lingus. Fly from 20 GB airports to the USA via Dublin and save time by pre‐clearing US Customs and Border Protection in Dublin before you fly. So, when you arrive in the United States there’s no need to queue ‐ just collect your bags and go. USA baby!

This is a great new idea and the only thing I’m really gutted about is, thru the Q isn’t yet in Belfast in Northern Ireland , only Dublin as things stand. Ah well – if you’re reading Aer Lingus – we’d love to have this option in Belfast as well!!
