Why You Need a Retractable Awning At Home

Years on the road backpacking had me weary. I had no idea how to be domesticated. I never owned a television, let alone a washing machine. Never mind know what a retractable awning is… Things changed from 2016 when I settled in Poland and I had to face the fact that I can always be a tourist, but I don’t have to travel round the world everyday. let’s get domesticated for once…

Why You Need a Retractable Awning At Home

Do you have an open porch or patio in your home that gets too hot in the day? Do you feel like you need something to cover your front yard from the sunlight? What you need is something to cover and shield your porch from direct sun while allowing free air and the ability to easily remove that covering. Traditional permanent awnings serve the purpose of providing shade to a place but the drawback is that they cannot be removed easily when you want sunlight to warm your place up. What you need are retractable awnings installed over your porch or patio will give you the liberty of having shade or sunlight whenever you want.

Why you need a retractable awning at home

  • In the summers, when the sun is harsh and strong in most parts of the world, you would ideally want to cover your windows from the direct rays of the sun while allowing free air circulation through your home. You would also want to cover any open sitting places so you can sit comfortably in the daytime. A retractable awning is the best choice for you because you can retract the shade whenever you want. For example, when it’s wintertime and you want to expose as much of your house to the sun, so it gets all warm and sunny, you can just retract the awning. On the other hand, if you had a permanent non-retractable awning put up at your place, you would have to put up with a cold shady place in the winters because you cannot remove the shades.
  • Another advantage of getting retractable awnings is that you will have shade from the hot sun in the day and an open cool sky at night. For instance when you wake up in the morning and you know it’s going to get hot around noon; you can go expand the awning before the temperature starts going up. You can spend very relaxing hours sitting or lying under your awning while a mist fan blows cool moist air over you. As soon as the sun gets dim and the day starts getting cooler, you can retract it back to see the nightfall and have a clear starry sky above.
  • Retractable awnings offer a great cooling effect over the place they are installed on. Made of canvas woven of acrylic, cotton or polyester yarn, or vinyl laminated to the polyester fabric it makes for a great shield against the strong sun rays. While offering complete shade, using a retractable awning only covers 2 sides of a space. So if there are 6 sides to an open space, only the top (the awning) and one side (that is the wall to which awning is attached) are covered, while 4 sides are the same as before. Of these 4 sides, 3 will be open space for air to circulate. Free air moving through a shaded place has the best cooling effects, hence keeping your porch not only shade but also relatively cooler.
