Working Wednesdays: Processed Broccoli Harvesting at Woodside Farm, Poatina, Tasmania

Working Wednesdays: Processed Broccoli Harvesting at Woodside Farm, Poatina, Tasmania

Once I moved to Poatina, Woodside was the first broccoli farm I worked on in this area. That’s the entrance to Woodside farm, with my colleague Jenny sitting on the back of my car having her lunch.

The lonely road that Woodside Farm is on – a tranquil road which leads to Poatina and Miena, near the Great Lake and the Great Western Tiers.

The end of a broccoli patch at Woodside Farm – relaxing with my colleagues waiting for the next batch of empty boxes to arrive for the next heavy load.

Excellent view from Woodside Farm back towards the mountain settlement, and my base at Poatina.

Woodside Farm was also the first location where I had the pleasure of working on the world’s first broccoli harvester. That job alone merits a wee bit more of a write up sometime, but for the meantime a photo of me and Pierre on the harvester.

And it has taken me four hours to type up this post. It takes about an hour to upload one photo and even then it crashes and displays nothing because computers and the internet is always shit. Humans are better. Again, the photos may see the light of day some other time…
