Backpacking in Adammia – top sights in Tytannia Province

I recently became the first tourist to go backpacking in Adammia, this is a rare and unknown country which borders England in the county of West Yorkshire. Once you are in Adammia, you will become aware that the country has five main Provinces – Tytannia, Maternia, Myway, Primoria and Watertopia. And a further two territories – the Jagstonian Plains and Dearneland. However, I spent most of my time in the country’s capital – Tytannia Province. There were a lot of things to see and do here, so I had to limit the article to a top 15. Here are my Top 15 Sights in Tytannia Province.

Backpacking in Adammia: touring the capital

1.The Imperial City
At the centre of Tytannia is The Imperial City, the capital city of the Empire of Adammia. Here you will find the stunning White Gold Palace, home to many of the government’s offices. Tytannia itself is split into three counties – Sapientia includes the government district of Imperial City and the Lowlands, whilst Tytannia Major includes the rest of Imperial City and the Highlands. The third county is Tytannia Ulterior, and is separate as a territorial claim. You’ll likely start your tour of the capital in the Imperial City.

2.Capital Brewery
No visit to Adammia is complete without sampling the locally made wine or beer. I visited the Capital Brewery on my visit and tried two types of wine, a red and a white. Both were excellent and will feature in my Thirsty Thursdays feature.

3.Adammic Briefcase
The Adammic briefcase is a secret compartment that houses the best and top secret information about the country. I was able to see the briefcase, open it and have a look inside.

4.Adammic “Souvenir Shop”
For such a small country I was surprised to find what is almost a souvenir shop, a number of companies in Adammia produce goods and they are for sale. Unlike Austenasia and Podjistan, Adammia has a lot more souvenirs than those other countries. Here you can buy Adammic stamps, the Adammic Express (national newspaper) and Adammic wine. Payment is made in British pounds and all proceeds go directly to the Adammic state.

In terms of listed companies in the country, Capital Brewery is already listed and the Adammic Express is self-explanatory, and the stamps come from Imperial Mail, the Adammic equivalent of Royal Mail.

5.Adammic National Flag
A highlight of any visit to the Empire of Adammia is surely to see the national flag flying, and to get your photo taken with it. The flag is a green circle on a blue background and the flag proudly flies from the upper level floor of the White Gold Palace.

I was the first tourist to visit the country and was able to fly my own Northern Ireland flag with pride next to the Adammia flag.

6.The Treasury
Sometimes when you are travelling, the treasury of a country is a massive building of its own. Here in Adammia, however, they are down to earth and it’s a small treasury. The treasury here is simply a cabinet of funds, donated by Adammians each month which started six months after the country’s formation. Traditional paper and pen is used to record Adammian citizens contributions to the treasury. However there is an online spreadsheet which tracks overall income and expenditure.

7.Shooter Falls
The country’s only waterfall is actually man made. It sits in the highlands of Tytannia Province and is named Shooter Falls after an old map of the area which lists the owner of the land as Shooter, rather than the name of the land itself.

8.Ancient Map of Adammia
Adammia was formed in 2013, but the history of the country dates back much much further. There was always a property in this location but originally it was always owned and claimed by England and the United Kingdom. The ancient map sits proudly on a framed wall opposite the Capital Brewery and is part of the historic region of Tytannia. Emperor Adam gave me a full history of the country on my visit. To learn more check the official Adammia website. For privacy reasons, the map cannot be shown on this page.

9.Chambers of Ruling Council
For a small country, the government and legislative procedures all seem well organised and efficient. Perhaps this is due to the neatness and family orientated Chambers of the Ruling Council. In this room, lots of meetings are held and the Adammians also use it to relax.

10.Governor’s Residence
The Governor’s Residence contains a framed piece of paper listing all citizens of the Empire of Adammia. This framed list of citizens in Gthe overnor’s Residence is a monument known as Populus Imperium.

This room also contains the original Tytannia flag, which differs from the Adammia flag. My visit to the Governor’s Residence was just after crossing the border from England to Adammia.

11.Government Headquarters
I had a cup of tea and biscuits while interviewing the Emperor of Adammia in the government headquarters. The room links the Governor’s Residence to the Chambers of the Ruling Council.

12.Adammic Animals
There are two non human residents in the Tytannia Province, and both are called Billy. First there is Billy the dog, then Billy the bird. The dog moves from Tytannia Province to Maternia Province from time to time, while the bird is kept at Tytannia.

In the highlands of the country, there are also some fish, they reside in the country’s largest lake.

13.Border Between England and Adammia
Another highlight of my visit was the border itself. You leave West Yorkshire in England and arrive on the main road (also known as the M1) in the Tytannia Province of Adammia. There is no border control or passport check here. Bag checks are also not carried out, the reason being invitation to the country is by strict invitation and agreement in advance with the Adammic government.

As the country’s first tourist, I crossed the border with the Emperor and was escorted directly to the Imperial City with ease. Despite being landlocked within West Yorkshire, there is only one open border entry to England and naturally that is the way I entered the country. There is a sign on the English side of the border that reads “Keep Clear”, however this refers to cars parking in front of a driveway rather than denoting the entrance to Adammia.

I was there to witness a demonstration flight of Adammia’s Quad Copter. I witnessed the indoor flight, guided by Emperor Adam.

15.Tytannia Major
Tytannia Major includes a mini orchard, the army base and the highlands as well as another few roads in the country. Plums and peaches are grown in Tytannia Major, some of which are used in the production of the wine.
