Manchester is the second biggest city in England – famous for its urban lifestyle and happening nightlife. But the city of Manchester is much more than pomp and show and booze – a place of great historical and cultural importance. It is also home to two greatest football clubs in the world – Manchester United and Manchester City, and the world’s first inter-city passenger railway station was built here. From large music venues to fantastic street food, Manchester has it all.

Here is a list of some of the best things you can do in this beautiful English city.

1.Visit Old Trafford – Probably more than a dream for every football fan on earth, Old Trafford is a place to go for everyone who visits Manchester. It is the home ground of Manchester United Football Club – you can experience the club museum and the training ground. Also known as the ‘Theatre of Dreams’, it is a stadium full of history dating back to 1910. If you have the time and in a position to spend some money, watch a game of football at Old Trafford – it’s an experience of a lifetime.

2.Attend a Musical Show – If you’re in Manchester, there’s no way you can leave without watching a musical show. Music resides in the hearts of the people of Manchester – the city has produced some world-class musicians such as The Smiths, Vinyl Exchange, Eastern Bloc, and more. Popular venues include – Manchester Arena and The Lowry and Alber Hall. Also, some cafes and bars usually offer a free show.

3.Visit the Castlefield – If you want to see what Manchester was in the old days, Castlefield is the place to go. It is the site of Mamucium fort – yes, Manchester got its name from the same. It is one of the most significant places in the history of the city and portrays the industrial side of Manchester with iron bridges and red brick warehouses. If you’re not interested in history, you can enjoy delicious food at one of the restaurants at Castlefield.
