We all know trhat there are a few million Polish people living in the USA, mostly they are in Chicago or New York. I have actually been on US soil 5 times, taking numerous internal flights as well as visiting Canada on two occasions. Today, I’ll share some my my best memories from there. To start with, it’s an evisa process once you have your flights to the USA booked. Then, it’s a case of booking your accommodation. I usually book my accommodation online in advance, using some online booking sites. I have slept in 4 USA states in my life, and had connecting flights in a further brace. I have been to Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Dallas, New York City, San Francsico, Los Angeles, Hollywood, Kissimee, Orlando, Miami and Atlanta. Here are some of my best travel memories from the USA.
1.AYCD Night in NYC
This night of madness stands for “All you can drink night in New York City”. It was my first time backpacking in New York and I found out about a bar that was all you can drink for $10 US Dollars, back in 2007. We rounded up an epic international group, including the famous Millwall Neil and we drank the bar dry!! We certainly won’t forget that night in a hurry and it featured in a chapter in my first printed book, Backpacking Centurion.
2.Empire State Building, New York City
Despite it being a huge tourist pull, I actually liked the Empire State Building in New York City. I went to the top to admire the viewpoint.
3.Touring Los Angeles
I had a great time sleeping next to Venice Beach in Los Angeles on my first trip to California. I stayed in a backpacker’s hostel there and toured Venice Beach and Santa Monica Beach on foot, enjoying Santa Monica Pier. I also took a trip through Hollywood, seeing the homes of many stars and walking through Rodeo Drive. I was there in 2007, when David Beckham signed for LA Galaxy and got to see his first training session at the Home Depot Arena as well as a spontaneous tour down to Hermosa Beach in LA. This is the beautiful beach where George Best once lived, and once owned a bar.
4.Family Days in Florida
In my teenage years, my family took us to Florida a few times and though I was never a fan of places like Kissimee or Orlando, I did have fun memories back then as it seemed so different and new to me. It was like a different world to Northern Ireland completely. We toured places like Universal Studios, Miami Beach, Epcot Centre and even the Mickey Mouse lair, Disneyland.
Those are my best memories from my time touring the USA. I have also been to Canada twice, Mexico once and backpacked through the remaining mainland America countries, including Uruguay and El Salvador. Glory days loyal.
