Trying to pin down the spot for the “perfect” vacation can be tough, right? As a result, sometimes it’s best to go somewhere that’s totally off of your radar in terms of typical destinations. For example, have you looked into visiting the Philippines? Aside from gorgeous ladies, sublime beaches, huge cocktails, sumptuous barbecued food and the largest Filipino casinos, this is a country well worth backpacking through. I backpacked it twice and loved it, touring places like Chocolate Hills and the Butterfly Centre.
Although perhaps not in too many peoples’ top-tens in terms of travel spots, the islands attraction tons of tourists year after year. The Philippines’ status as a tourist getaway isn’t exactly a secret, which is a big bonus for visitors as accommodations and attractions that can be included in your 8 days in the Philippines tours are a breeze to find.
Brimming with things to do, consider the following five reasons why the Philippines deserves your undivided attention as your next vacation spot.
It’s Cheap
The Philippines’ low cost of living is well-documented, spelling good news for locals and tourists alike.
The region is a popular destination for American retirees looking for a cost-effective place to settle down. On the flip side, many expats rely on services like Remitly to send money back home as the local economy relies on the likes of tourism and fewer high-skill jobs.
From lodging and flights to local cuisine and beyond, these islands are the place to be if you want to keep more cash in your pocket.
The Locals Are Glad to Have You
Regarded as the eight friendliest country in the world, many out of towners are surprised at just how happy and welcoming locals are to tourists.
Unlike some exotic destinations where you might be looking over your shoulder, Filipinos appreciate both the beauty of their own country and contributions that travelers bring. In short, it’s a win-win for both parties as everyone benefits from each others’ positive vibes.
The Weather is Amazing
Photos of tourist hotspots like Manila and Boracay don’t do justice to just how incredible the Philippines’ weather truly is. Although there might often be talk of monsoons and what-if situations for tourists, the nation offers a tropical climate to beat the cold and soak up some much-needed sun.
Awesome Island Life and Attractions
If you’re looking for the ultimate island getaway, look no further. Southeast Asia in general is known for natural beauty, but these islands are quite the gems due to their beachside spots. Among the best beaches and islands in Philippines for snorkeling, diving and exploring are….
- El Nido (Palawan), perfect for seeing coral and the occasional whale
- Boracay (Aklan), boasting caves, cliffs and castles
- Panglao (Bohol), with its huge hills and rolling terrain
Fantastic Photo Ops
The Philippines are truly picturesque in pretty much every sense of the word: you can snag a beautiful snapshot around just about any corner. That said, if you really want to “wow” your friends and family back home, consider looking into the following hotspots as you plan your travel itinerary:
- The Batad Rice Terraces (Banaue, Luzon)
- Fort Santiago (Manila, Luzon)
- The Puerto Princesa Underground River (Puerto Princesa City, Palawan)
While there are no shortage of destinations to choose from for your next vacation, the Philippines most definitely deserves top priority on your list. From a low price tag to once-in-a-lifetime sightseeing, start planning your getaway ASAP for a trip you’ll never forget.

There are many things that I like in the country such as the people, food, and booze. The challenge is on transportation and traffic. But I ain’t gonna deny that the people are so gorgeous, friendly, and welcoming. I hope I can travel back to Boracay this year.
Hi Jeff, Thanks for the comment and I am extremely sorry for the huge delay in replying to you. I have been going through problems with depression and wasn’t checking the comments or messages that much. Stay safe. Jonny
