Beavers Bend State Park for Horse Riding and Hikes

This state park is known for its variety of trails which range from easy walks to challenging hikes. The trails themselves wind throughout the forest and take you past creeks and views of waterfalls. The park itself sits on 3,482 acres and is located in McCurtain County. It’s only 10.5 miles from Broken Bow.

Horse riding is a popular activity as well in the state park. Popular rides include the River Man Trail Rides and the Glover River Trail Rides. These horse rides will take you around two and a half miles into the scenic Beavers Bend State Park Game Reserve where you can view some of the local wildlife. The ride lasts between 45 minutes to 1 hour. If you’re a first time horse rider, it’s important to let your guide know so they can look after you during the ride.

A 40 minute drive from Broken Bow, Mount Fork River offers a great location to cast a line with normal fishing or fly fishing. These waters are renowned for their Rainbow and Brown Trout. This river is 98 miles in length with two major portions the upper Mountain Fork and the Lower Mountain Fork. The trout are provided by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife to ensure year round fishing. This makes it the perfect place for fishing enthusiasts who want a break away. 

Hochatown Dining

Hochatown is closest to Broken Bow, and you’ll find some great dining options available to please everyone. There are different places where you can eat pizza, steak, seafood, fried chicken, catfish, and taste wine to top it all off. Renowned places like The Hochahut, Hochatown Saloon, Shuck Me Hochatown, along with Buffalo Grill, Tacoma Tacos, and the Mountain Fork Brewery, plus others give diners a lot of options to choose from. With around 50 local restaurants and food eateries there’s something for everyone. 

Rugaru Adventures 

Rugaru Adventures is a zipline tour which takes you on a thrilling ride through the forest canopy. You’ll also see breathtaking views of Broken Bow Lake at the end of the zipline. Spanning across six ziplines ranging between 300 to 1100 feet in length, it can reach up to 60 feet in height. Speeding through the canopy at 35 miles an hour, each tour lasts around two hours.
