My return to Latvia demanded a decent hotel. You might have read that first time around I didn’t warm to the Latvian capital city of Riga. That time I also stayed a wee bit outside the old town. So this time, I knew I’d be arriving by bus from Siauliai in Lithuania so I wanted to stay in the Old Town, and less than 10 minutes walk from the bus station. I booked into the Boutique Hotel Man Tess.
1. Welcoming Staff
I was greeted with aplomb from Marianna and Arina on arrival and handed my key for room 21. These Latvian ladies were very welcoming. Thanks to Jana, Ekaterina, Marianna and Arina for helping me enjoy my stay here.
2. Historic Building
The Hotel Man Tess is housed in a mansion built by famous Latvian architect Christoph Haberlands.
3. Spacious, Comfortable Room
My room was big and spacious and I loved that. Hot shower and bath with towels, soap and shampoo provided.
A bloggers desk with fast working wifi for me to get some articles typed up.
4. Old Town Location
I mentioned how I wanted to stay in the Old Town of Riga and almost all the key sights of the city are easily reached on foot from here. Freedom Monument, Blackheads House and Stalin’s “Academy of Science are all within 10 minutes.
By night, you’re spoilt for choice for a range of bars, cafes and restaurants. All nearby.
5. Breakfast
This was the first hotel I had stayed in in the Baltics where breakfast was included in the price of the room, which I loved. It is served from 8am – 11am. Normally I’m the early bird at breakfast, but I had a lie in and headed down around 9am for mine.
There is a great range of hot and cold foods for breakfast. You’ll have a choice of juices, waters and tea/coffee. There is a range of yoghurts, fruit and cereals. There are cooked eggs and sausages. There is a good range of salads – I loved the cheese and salami here. Also there is plenty of bread and a toaster.
All in all, I must thank the Hotel Man Tess for their hospitality and for giving me a good impression of Riga this time round. Here are the details for booking the Boutique Hotel Man Tess in Riga, Latvia:
