Everything You Need to Do When Visiting Toronto, Canada
Whether you’re taking a relaxing weekend getaway or a family vacation, you are sure to find plenty of fun-filled activities in the Canadian city of Toronto. It is such a popular destination that it hosts over sixteen million tourists a year. But with all the choices, how in the world are you going to narrow down the best places to visit?
Not to worry: below are the six must-have experiences everyone should have on a trip to Toronto!
1.CN Tower
Towering over 1,800 feet tall, this uniquely designed building was once the largest free-standing structure in the world. The huge concrete tower contains observation decks, a revolving restaurant, and elevators and floors made of glass.
CN Tower was built in 1973 to be a transmitter for radio and TV signals, hence the 334 ft antenna at the top, and it continues to serve this purpose over forty years later. Now, over two million people visit the tower every year to see the incredible structure and views it provides. If you’re up for conquering your fear of heights or experiencing an unforgettable meal watching over all of Toronto, the CN Tower is a place you’ll want to see.
2.Niagara Falls
It would be wrong to get so close to the Niagara Falls and not tour them! This set of three massive waterfalls straddles the border of the United States and Canada and were formed over 10,000 years ago. The water from melting glaciers flowed down the Niagara River and off a cliff, eroding the land into what is now the falls. Innovators over the years have discovered a way to use the falls for energy. By setting up power stations they are able to produce one of the largest sources of hydroelectric power.
Take one of the Niagara Tours for a jam-packed day of discovering the falls, winery, hydro power stations and more. The guided tour is filled with the history of the falls, towns and attractions that surround the area. The beautiful landmark is a must see for all ages.
3.Polson Pier
Polson Pier is an entertainment complex that holds a variety of sports, go-karts and an amusement area. It also doubles as the only drive-in movie theatre in Canada. During the day you can choose between playing golf, volleyball, swimming, and rock climbing and at night there is a concert hall that turns into a nightclub! The whole family will enjoy a trip to Polson Pier.
4.Toronto Entertainment District
One of the major reasons Toronto is such a frequented tourist destination is because of its arts culture. The Toronto Entertainment District is Canada’s version of the United States’ Broadway. Theatres, concerts, restaurants, major league sports teams, and hotels line the streets of this area for the ultimate sensory experience. It is a one stop shop for a family or group with a variety of interests to have an unforgettable vacation.
5.High Park
If you enjoy spending time in the fresh air, High Park is a must-see destination in Toronto. This is the biggest public park in the area containing hiking trails, picnic areas, gardens and a zoo.
The massive 339-acre park has both forested and water-filled areas to explore. During the winter months they even put up an ice rink. The park is meant to provide visitors with an enjoyable experience free of charge.
6.Ontario Science Center
Want something fun to do that is also educational for the family? Ontario Science Center was one of the first museums to offer mostly hands-on exhibits. This allows kids and families to learn new things about anatomy, technology, music and nature. Extending the age reach, they also offer University Preparation courses. It is a destination sure to be a learning experience.
