Friday’s Featured Food: Bajan Fish🐟Balls🍡, Bank’s Beer🍺And Choco-Cherry🍫🍒Freeze At The Tiki Bar, Hastings, Barbados🇧🇧

While I’m certainly not a food freak, a foodie, a food blogger or a fat bastard, I still run my Friday’s Featured Food series. This series started way back in 2012 when the blog became more specific and tailored. And so, in an attempt to backdate and foodpack my way through 5,000 plus meals from 230 countries on my journey, you and I will be here forever. Taking photos of food, ordering food, eating food, rating food and videoing food. The drill don’t change. During COVID times, I backpacked The Caribbean twice in an attempt to free myself to a logical paradise in hope of finding solace. Whilst I didn’t find a freedom, I did make my first landing in Barbados, a country I have now passed through thrice due to its hubbic claim and it is some kind of jumping point whilst backpacking, flighthopping and boathopping The Caribbean away. Today, I chilled out on Hastings Beach in Barbados and The Tiki Bar was excellent!

Shamefully, I noticed today I had only written ONE post ever on Barbados, yet was there thrice, backpacked 6 towns of it, drinkpacked in a load of bars and cafes so finally, I need to catch myself up and myself on. I rolled into a load of beachside bars in BARbados. I loved them all. I’m a seaside boy from Bangor in Northern Ireland. The Tiki Bar looked good, we were mask loyal but there was an empty seat and table and I ordered up a local Banks Beer.

The beer arrived and then my eyes turned to the food menu at the same time that my nose smelt wafts of good beachside grub. It was clear I didn’t have COVID (and not once did I catch it) as I could smell well.

Hastings beach itself is a stunning, it’s exactly the tropical paradise you dreamed of.

The Tiki Bar was busy, I checked out the menu which was both a physical menu, as well as being online (they even had Wi-Fi) and on the boards by the bar. It’s a cool bar. I was backpacking alone but I was at ease with life. Barbados excels in customer service in its bars. This one had a range of cocktails…

Foodwise, I ordered Mr. Tiki’s Fish Cakes. These were absolutely delicious. I had them with a seafood sauce, although I often use spicy sauce in the Caribbean, as its the local thing there. I ordered another Banks then opted to try one of their unusual cocktails!

I ordered the Choco-Cherry Freeze, which contains Chambord, Chocolate Rum, Cream and Cherry! It looked and tasted delicious. Also that day, AFC Bournemouth were playing QPR away and I would later head to another bar, in Worthing to watch it live on TV!

I have to say the cold Banks beer, the Choco-Cherry Freeze and the Fish Cakes/Balls were completely delicious! The staff at The Tiki Bar were super as well. Go check it out. I miss the Caribbean and hope to return again soon to visit the islands and countries I have so far skippacked.

Oh, and the Cherries won 1-0 away at QPR that day. Dominik Solanke scored the winner and Andre Dozzell was given a red card…
