As much as I love to travel there are times when it gets a little tedious. Long bus journeys, plane journey’s and trains. While, I always have a book at hand, sometimes my brain is just not in the mood for reading. This is where apps and games come in handy.
Depending on my mood there are diverse types of games that I like to play. I like to mix it up! My top four games now are.
- Unblock Me
Unblock me is cool game, its similar in style to the classic Tetris. With 4200 hundred puzzles, this game brings immersive and addictive gameplay. Your goal in the game is to get that red block out of the board. It is done by sliding and sidetracking the other blocks. The game is available for beginner to expert level gaming, and it is a freeware available for iOS and Android users. Solving a puzzle might take longer than you think so be patient and try solving the puzzles and share your scores via social networks while enjoying your journey.
- Castle Builder 2
Rabat’s Castle Builder 2 is a unique themed video slot game but not like regular slots based games that you commonly think of when you think slots and casinos. In this game, you build castles with your materials and level up your avatars. It is a never-ending game as you can build as many as 75 castles in this game. It very much like Civilization. If strategy games are your thing this is defo worth checking out. It’s immersive, lots of fun and will make your journey fly.
- Subway Surfer
Subway Surfer harkens back to early PlayStation games. It’s an endless runner game, and once play but you start playing its hard to put down. It has become more popular than its predecessor, Temple Run. The player has to run away from a grumpy inspector and his dog on subway tracks and collect coins. It is a highly addictive game and would keep you full busy while travelling.
- Alto’s Adventure
Alto’s Adventure is available for free for Android users while it costs 6.18 USD for iPhone users. With breathtaking, serene mountains amidst tranquil day-night cycle, this running game is sure to give you a fresh experience at every stage. It could be the best pick to go for if planning to kick boredom on your 5-hour flight.
Have Fun:
Travelling opens the mind and provides food for the soul but for those times when you just want to kill time, games are a lifesaver.
Of course, we all have different tastes when it comes to games, the above are worth checking out the next time you are on a long trip.

Hi Jaipur Sightseeing, Thanks for the comment and safe travels. Jonny
I agree with you. I was looking for some cross-references, and found this one. I really think that I found something worth reading. I am putting it on my RSS feed to ensure that I don’t miss out on your posts.
Hi Raj, thanks for the comment and apologies for the delay in response. The blog and I have been going through serious mid life crisis and depression, caused (not by me of course) by a serial liar and a Guru God wannabe. Yes cool blogs – my book is now available – Backpacking Centurion – A Northern Irishman’s Journey Through 100 Countries: Volume 1 – Don’t Look Back In Bangor (1) . Stay safe. Jonny
