Sunday’s Inspiration: Trip Inside, Slow And Colour My Life
“You can colour my life until it fits with your own” – Liam Gallagher.
This will be an odd post on here, of that I know. The mind has a lot of complications all shot up in your storm. This recent Oasis “reunion”, which hasn’t actually happened yet saw me delving back into my childhood and teenagehood. I saw Oasis live 14 times between 1996 and 2008. Those were good times and Noel Gallagher provided heavy doses of inspiration for my life, my career, my blogs and my books. I still quote him weekly. He’s a modern day Shakespeare and he himself “doesn’t even think his lyrics are that good”. For me, his lyrics are the best in the world and it seemed to come so simply for him. I used to backpack the world with a CD version of (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? Didn’t you know that?
“All ya dreams are made when yer chained till thon mirror and thon razorblade” – Noel Gallagher.
I got tickets for the 2025 reunion tour of course, having priority ticket launch as a hardcore Oasis fan. I’ve been in the fanclub since 1996, and on the mailing list since 1995 (when it was done by posted mail). I’ve got more copies of “Some Might Say” than Noel Gallagher.
“Go and tell it to the man who cannot shine” – Noel Gallagher.
Then, Sundays have always been that Catholic style day for me and it still is like that. It’s a day of rest. Noel rested too, he’s a Catholic Irish Mancunian. He’s just not as Northern Irish or as Bournemouthic as me. But now that I’m older, and not wiser I delve back to my teenage years and how I got into Oasis anyway, who remembers hearing Colour My Life? Well here it is…
“It took so long since I could call this my home” – that was actually Liam Gallagher who wrote it.
It’s still October (2024) and I know that, and we go and fall back away by one hour today in some countries, Poland included. I’m using that hour to write this post as if it’s a magic bonus unknown post. Those Oasis songs Colour My Life, Slow, Alice, Reminisce, Trip Inside, Life In Vain – they are all nuts and hidden gems. Writers always do that – that’s the real quiz. Sorry?
I mean, this blog and my books are littered with scattered clues to answers to questions from this wacaday journey. Did you know that “Trip Inside” is the lost song off of Be Here Now that has no lyrics? So today, I’ve put my own lyrics to it.
Down in there, you’re a vacuum away.
On your trip inside.
Words don’t scare me from you, for me, anymore.
On cloud nine, there’s a soldier on duty.
He got tripped inside.
Life’s o’planed me in you and angered some.
Somehow wine, is an escape that got me to play.
To play with you, and the former journalist on superglue.
He took a photo on a beach when his heart was cold as his price.
He took the wrong trip inside.

And then life brought me back to 2024 and here I am, I moved to Olly, Olsztyn!
And tomorrow you see, I contemplate the whole 10 year journey since I wore the same shirt above at Birmingham City away and then met Jill Moran in Windsor before Millwall Neil turned 30. Oh shit – that means Millwall Neil, AKA The Famous Millwall Neil is almost 40. Just after he turned 30, I flew to Bucharest for Romania away. I went back there again this year. What? Yes – same reason – same lad – but I didn’t dare stay in the same bedroom where SHE came into my life.
I’ll pour myself a glass of red wine now. It’s from Portugal. She isn’t, nor wasn’t. On that particular day, my mind wasn’t clouded of emotion. I was more mature then, 10 years ago, I was in control, this travel blog was massive!! Way more massive than it is now. I was backpacking the world for free and being paid for about 3 years non-stop. I didn’t dream it all up and she knew it was all there.
Last week, I launched my 8th book without flinching an eyelid, Starogard Girl fired itself from its cannon. Even that girl isn’t here to lace my boots, or to mop my bathroom floor. You see, life is not always what it seems. Even wacaday nutheads don’t even know the meaning of the word “amalgamshake”, I thought I’d explained that one quite well.
I don’t want ever to be remembered for this. These books of mine, the poems and all that, will live forever. But we live in today, and not tomorrow.
“Slow” – Noel Gallagher.
“Maybe one day you will make my hometown famous ” – St🌟rogard🏰Girl🩷👱♀️.
I’m sure you’ll have time to put your clocks back one hour. It’s not wasted.
“Stop the clocks and leave it all behind” – Noel Gallagher.
