Today on my World Travellers Series, I’m delighted to have Renee Blodgett who is a very well known travel writer, marketer and overall busy lady. As well as contributing to numerous websites and blog, Renee also has her own blog, and runs We Blog the World – an awesome global website which I have also helped contribute to.

Where are you from?
I’m originally from the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York, a place where nature meets the most authentic of souls.
Where have you been?
Southeast Asia, Northern Africa, East Africa, Southern Africa, Australia, New Zealand and some of the Pacific, all of Europe, all of Scandinavia except for Norway, Canada and most of the U.S., South America, Central America, Middle East and the Caribbean.
Where are you now?
When I’m not traveling, I’m often in San Francisco.
What are the top 3 places you’ve visited?
It’s so hard to pick favorites but 3 places I’d love to return to are South Africa, Thailand and Chile. Greece and Italy are pretty high on the list too.
What is the best travel experience you’ve had?
It’s a toss between riding elephants through grassy fields in southern India and hanging out with giraffes in southern Africa.
What is the worst travel experience you’ve had?
Getting sick in China the first year it opened up to the west.
What is the scariest travel experience you’ve had?
See worst travel experience I’ve ever had.
What is the most random job you have had on your travels?
Picking greengages in New Zealand.
How do you fund your travels?
By day, I run Magic Sauce Media, a marketing, PR and social media consultancy.
What 3 tips would you give a new traveller before they set off on their adventure?
Be open to possibilities, talk to the first person you see who has interesting eyes when you arrive, and have faith that it will all work out even when it doesn’t feel like it will.
What are your future travel plans?
Hot on the list are Argentina, Peru, the Caribbean, Greece and Madagascar.
