The Vegas Strip, the place you get married spontaneously, the casino centre of the planet etc. This quick fire list of 5 things to do there should keep you occupied when your backpack takes you there.

1.The Bellagio Fountains

If you’re strolling down the strip be sure to pay a visit to the famous Bellagio Fountains, where without fail every 15 minutes after 7pm you can witness the wonder of the famous fountains for free. Watch the fountains dance to over 30 different songs from Elvis Presley’s “Viva Las Vegas,” to Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman’s “Con Te Partiro (Time to Say Goodbye) right through to,” Michael Jackson’s iconic “Billie Jean”. This spectacular show is one you’ll never tire of and best of all is totally free. So wander at leisure and enjoy the amazing sight of the huge lake whose fountains shoot water higher than 24 storey buildings. Found opposite the eponymous Caesar’s Palace you can’t pass it by without marvelling at its grandeur.

2. Cirque de Soleil

Go and see an unmissable and mystical show at Cirque de Soleeil which never fails to amaze and enthral. Marvel at this magical human circus, but be sure not to take any photos or you’ll be swiftly removed from the theatre! The mysterious Mystere is unmissable and surreal and you’ll be fascinated by the variety that is Cirque de Soleil. If you’ve never experienced it, Cirque de Soleil is an experience you’ll never forget.

3.Madame Tussauds Las Vegas

No trip to Vegas would be complete if you didn’t pay Madame Tussauds a visit. Leave the desert heat behind and wander round the cool Viva Vegas experience and rub shoulders with even cooler Rat Pack legends like Sammy Davis Junior, ole Blue Eyes himself Sinatra. Re-live the real Viva Las Vegas golden era with the one and only king of rock and Roll Elvis Presley and make your friends green with envy at your photos.

Mingle in the cool with movie legends like John Wayne, Elizabeth Taylor and some like it hot star Marilyn Monroe immortalised. You can stand in the presence of modern day action heroes like Will Smith and Sandra bullock and Marvel characters at their height and dimensions (see below).

All the music greats like Bono from U2 and Gwen Stefani are here for you to pose with. Pretend to be a celebrity and get your picture taken with the ultimate queen of chat Ms Oprah Winfrey, or square up to boxing legend Mohammed Ali in all his glory for the photo opportunity of a lifetime.

Relive all your favourite movie and music moments with the stars, by stepping into the hall of fame to test your superhero powers with your favourite action heroes.

4.Las Vegas Monorail

If you’re hot and bothered and tired tramping up and down the strip in the heat of the desert sun, why not hop on the Vegas Monorail. With its stops at major attractions and hotels, the monorail will take you in style around the Vegas Strip. Spare your feet for wandering around the amazing themed hotels in Vegas and zip up and down the strip in as little as 15 minutes.

5.Las Vegas by night Helicopter

If you’d like to catch Las Vegas at its illuminated best, there’s no better time to see it than at night from the vantage point of a helicopter. Why not book a night time helicopter tour to catch a glimpse of the stunning mega light shows like the Bellagio Fountains.

My latest plans in travel are for East Timor, then China and Hong Kong and back to London for a day. After that I really do feel a stop over in the USA on route to or from Brazil! Safe travels lads and lasses.

  • If given the chance you should definitely try fly with Skyline Helicopter Tours. Their staff (pilots included) are amazing and they’re super cheap. At the time of posting this comment Skyline Helicopter Tours is the only Las Vegas tour company with zero accidents or incidents.
