The latest in my World Travellers series is a cool couple – Karolina and Patryk. Read how they created a business and are now out travelling the world as well as running a cool travel blog called Karolina Patryk .com.
Who are you?
We are Karolina and Patryk. Young Polish couple who decided to follow their dreams. We quit college, moved from our apartment and opened a company. Now we don’t have a home, we are travelling around the world, owning a company which gives us money for our trips.
Where are you from?
We are from Poland in Europe. Karolina was born in Lancut near the Ukrainian border and Patryk is from Turek which is in central Poland. We met in Cracow, where we were studying.
Where have you been?
We’ve been in Thailand, Cambodia, USA, Vietnam, Canada, Italy, France, England, Germany, Ukraine, Slovakia, Hungary, Denmark, Czech Republic, Spain, China and Greece. In a month we are going to Dominicana Republic.
Where are you now?
Right now we are in Piwniczna Zdroj in Beskind Sadecki Mountains in Poland. We took a short break to relax before our wedding which is in 40 days!
What are the top 3 places you’ve visited?
-Koh Phanghan island in Thailand
It’s just terrific! Amazing beaches, friendly people and tasty food. We just love Thailand :).
-Cracow in Poland
This is where we met. Cracow is magical and every tourist coming to Poland should see this city. It’s incredible and unforgettable.
-Niagara Falls in Canada
This place is also magical. We don’t understand why so many people complain about how commercial Niagara is. The falls didn’t change for so many years and they are very impressive. When we first saw them, we couldn’t stop staring at them. Just to admire their beauty :).
What is the best travel experience you’ve had?
There were plenty of amazing experiences so it’s difficult to choose one. But we would say… getting lost in Venice. We were walking along these beautiful Italian streets until it got dark. And we couldn’t find the way back to our hotel. All we could hear was the water… This was scary but fantastic. We were completely alone in one of the most beautiful cities in the world!
What is the worst travel experience you’ve had?
This happened in Washington, DC. One African American asked Patryk for money. He refused to give him anything and he was really pissed off. He was screaming that he will come back and kill us. We were really scared because we had nowhere to go and we didn’t know what kind of person this guy is…
What is the funniest travel experience you’ve had?
It was on Koh Tao island. We saw this cute young couple with two little girls. We wanted to talk with them to ask how they manage to travel with kids. We didn’t have a chance to say anything because the woman starts screaming at the man… in Polish language! We started laughing because it’s not easy to meet Poles at the other end of the world.
What is the scariest travel experience you’ve had?
The story with the African American guy that we told before. And maybe when we get lost in Bangkok. It was our first trip on another continent, after a long flight. The taxi driver dropped us off in a dark alley and said that he didn’t know where our hotel was… Fortunately we met a white guy who led us to our destination.
What is the most random job you have had on your travels?
We have only one job, which is our company :). We made it according to Tim Ferris advice from ‘4-hour workweek’ book. Everything is automated, so we just need few hours a day to get things done.
How do you fund your travels?
The answer is above 🙂
What 3 tips would you give a new traveller before they set off on their adventure?
1. Always take a credit card with you
In our opinion, it’s almost impossible to travel without credit card. It’s necessary to book a hotel, rent a car or just pay for something in a shop.
Every traveller has a credit card, so you should have one too 🙂
2. Buy a local SIM card
You should always have a local phone number with Internet access. That will help you everytime you get lost.
3. Find good deals
You’ll be surprised how many great deals you can find online. Sometimes hotel or plane tickets are riddiculously cheap. Don’t let them get away from you 🙂
What are your future travel plans?
We are getting married on 4th October. Then we are spending our 3-week honeymoon on Dominican Republic. On November and December we are planning to go to Scotland.
On January we want to go to China for half a year :).
Biography
We were both raised in small towns but we always had big dreams. We wanted more from life than just have a good job, big house and nice car. When we met, we immediately fell in love with each other. After 3 months we started to live together and after a year we quit our colleges, sold everything and started travelling around the world 🙂
On our blog www.karolinapatryk.com we are writing about our journeys, giving tips how to be a good couple and how to earn money online. We motivate people to fulfill their dreams, live all inclusive life (just like us) and to be happy everyday 🙂

Whoa… I like your blog Jonny, but you should really proofread this article…
Karolina and Patryk interviewed me and that is how I met them. Good to read an interview about them and learn a little about them. Interesting questions and answers, and I am sorry to hear about their scary experience in D.C.
Hi Ted – yes these guys and a cool couple of travellers for sure! Safe travels. Jonny
Hi Annalisa, Thanks! Just did – been backpacking hardcore the last 3-4 months and didn’t have time to read most of these interviews – glad you are on hand to help and safe travels. Jonny
Hi Annalisa! We are not native English speakers but we are really trying hard to be correct. Hope you can be more lenient in the future 😉
