What? Are you serious? You went all the way whackpacking in Andorra to eat sausages and beans? Yes and what’s wrong with that!?
My first proper meal back in Europe on my first proper trip back for 6 years and I hunted down restaurants and bars in Escaldes Engordany for some “authentic Andorran food”. Sausages and beans was as authentic as it got, I’m afraid.
I crossed the border into Andorra from Barcelona in Catalonia and after checking into the Hotel Residencia Nuria I headed out in the town of Escaldes Engordany for dinner. I was actually looking for something Authentically Andorran. I was recommended Bar 120 so I headed there. It’s one of the more authentic yet expensive restaurants in town. On asking the waitress what the most traditionally Andorran meal was I was a bit disappointed that her response was that they are a mix of French and Spanish.
Anyway I opted for an Estrella beer, a massive sausage and some beans. It cost around 8 Euros so also my most expensive meal in a long time, but worth it.
I had another few snacks out in bars and restaurants in Andorra but sadly never found that local cuisine that is definite to Andorra. Here’s a video of the dinner that night:
