I was recently back in England, and made a welcome return to the city of Manchester. Manchester is a massive city drenched in history, it’s world famous. Here you have the music of Oasis and the Stone Roses and the football teams FC United of Manchester, Manchester City and Manchester United. I’ve been to Manchester quite a few times down the years, including the England v. Northern Ireland match in 2005 and the Cluedo Pub Crawl in 2012.
This time I enjoyed a couple of luxury nights in the Park Inn by Radisson in Manchester City Centre. I have stayed in a Park Inn before of course, if you read my article about the one in Copenhagen in Denmark. This hotel in Manchester is the perfect base for a fast moving business traveller. Here are my favourite five things about the hotel.
1.Pool and Fitness Suite
On the floor two levels below the reception is a fantastic state of the art pool and fitness suite. I loved the way the pool is black and white in colour, as opposed to the usual green/blue colour.
It was a real way to relax and I enjoyed the sauna and steam room too. There is a fully functional gym and it is all included in the room tariff. There is a massage and therapy centre there too, obviously there is a cost to use that.
2.Breakfast Buffet
On the move all the time, I rarely cook these days. This might be a shame, but it comes with the lifestyle (having said that, I’ve just done some cooking in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire). Thankfully, others are on hand to cook for me, and breakfasts are prepared so I can save time on my journeys.
It’s a busy life and the breakfast buffet at the Park Inn Manchester was an essential part of my days here. I devoured as much as I could. I’m a fan of English breakfast as a way to start the day. On offer here as you can see from the photos was:
– juices
– fruit
– cereals
– tea and coffee
– salads
– cheese
– full English breakfast
– toast and other bakery items
3.Fast Wi-Fi
The Wi-Fi at the Radisson Park Inn Manchester City Centre is fast and works in the rooms, and in the reception and bar area. It was a good chance to catch up on work after a day at the football and touring the unknown Empire of Adammia.
4.Central Location
Location wise, you can’t go wrong with the Park Inn by Radisson. It’s a 5 minute walk from Victoria Station, and less than 10 minutes from the Arndale Centre and the Football Museum. It’s on some useful bus routes too, though I backpacked the city on foot as ever.
5.Cosy Rooms
I was on the 6th floor in room 611 and I loved my room. I had a big double bed, a safe, a TV, a desk for working, clean bathroom, tea and coffee, dressing gown. It was a brilliant cosy and relaxing room. I’ll share some photos of my room.
