Nine years after my last visit to Germany, here I arrived into Munich. The thriving Bavarian capital city was also my first stop on my return to Europe after 4 months of travelling in Central Asia, and India. And as am added extra, and perhaps a surprise for some, but it was my first ever time to visit Munich, a city famous for beer halls, football and nudist parks. Three things which should ultimately have brought me here earlier. I checked into the 4 You Hostel in the downtown area and set about seeing the sights and enjoying my first few days back in Europe on route to meet my friend Lock In Lee, in Salzburg across the border into Austria.
The 4You Hostel is well located in Munich, close to the Haupt Bahnhof, so easy to find if arriving by rail, bus or flight. I flew in from Moscow and recommend staying here for these cool reasons.
1.Amazing All You Can Eat Breakfast
The 4You hostel and hotel has the bonus of having a huge selection on the All You Can Eat breakfast. I particularly liked the cheese selection, salami, bread and pate. Great tea, coffee and juice too.
2.Perfect Location
For coming in and out of Munich, the 4You Hostel is extremely well located. It is just a few minutes walk from the Haupt Bahnhof (main train station), from the airport bus stop, and it’s also in a quiet street in the city centre which makes it easy to be based here while cycling or walking through the main sights of the city.
3.Easy to Organise Tours
All of your tours can be easily organised from the hostel. The reception staff are knowledgeable about the entire region, you can tour the famous Neuschwanstein Castle, do a beer pub crawl and a bicycle tour of the city.
4.Choice of Rooms
The 4You Hostel and Hotel has five floors, with the top two floors having private and more luxurious hotel style rooms.
The other floors are textbook backpacker hang outs and dorm rooms. This choice brings a really cool diverse range of fellow tourists to meet.
5.Fast WiFi on Every Floor
The Wi-Fi is superb and works on every floor, a huge bonus, having just arrived from 4 months in Central Asia, I really missed this high speed connectivity present here at the 4You Hostel and Hotel. You can hang out in the bar on the bottom floor and get online too.

Here is a video from my room at the 4You Hostel in Munich, Germany:
Good to hear that they can organize tours to Neuschwanstein Castle for guests! It’s a bit out of the way for backpackers, and although it is “touristy,” it’s still kinda cool to check out. Both for the origins of the castle of itself as requested by King Ludwig and the fact that it was the inspiration for the Magic Kingdom castle at Walt Disney World in the U.S.A.
Hi Ray, I didn’t bother with it myself, but Munich as a hub somehow tells me I’ll be back there. My reasons for going will be different from yours though – the castle appeared on the front cover of a number one single by rock band Blur in the 1990s. Safe travels. Jonny
