I got hit by a dose of sun over the weekend and while my sun cream kept my skin protected, let’s not forget those other sun blocking heroes – sunglasses. It’s today’s Tuesday’s Travel Essentials – shades, sun visors, sun protectors, sunglasses. Whatever keeps my eyes protected from that hot ball out there. I need them, and so do all travellers. And you know what, I’m not even a mega sunseeker or anything! I like cold climates just as much as I like hot ones, but still PACK YOUR SHADES.
My current sunglasses – a travel essential…
I always own one pair only at a time, and yes they often get lost or broken so need replaced every couple of years. However I never buy expensive ones, what’s the point? It’s not a fashion contest! This is me – I’m a cheapskate, tight ass backpacker. I don’t walk the catwalks of Milan, and if I did, I’d wear a football shirt and deliberately forget to shave or wear underpants.

That’s it – make sure you pack your sunglasses. Not only will you look cool as f**k but your eyes will be all the better for it. My favourite sunglasses quote was from Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher “Thou shalt wear sunglasses at all times. It’s in the Bible.”
