A Guide on How to Stop Your Hairline from Receding and ways to Prevent Baldness

As time passes by and we begin to age, our bodies also start aging. As long term travellers, we cannot escape the fact that we don’t get any younger. A receding hairline is one of the first and foremost symptoms of old age. A receding hairline takes place when stronger hairs are replaced by tiny hair. The process can slowly appear, and if not taken care of properly, it can actually lead to baldness. The good news about a receding hairline is that it can be easily prevented with just a few techniques.

Whether you have already started losing your hair or are about to reach that stage, engage in these preventative measures to prevent baldness.

Find Out the Cause

The causes of a receding hairline are numerous. It may be due to stress, genetics, low-calorie diets, malnutrition, or age. Major illness or surgery can also be a cause of hair loss.

Knowing the cause of hair loss will help you understand what to fix and what measures to take. This way you can come up with a better plan for hair loss prevention.

Washing and Touching your Hair

There are many different shampoos to choose from nowadays. You have to choose the perfect shampoo to avoid a receding hairline. If you have oily/greasy hair, you need to find a shampoo that is anti-fungal or that can kill off dandruff. Greasy hair can result in dandruff because of the yeast that grows there. Using an anti-dandruff shampoo will reduce the greasiness, dandruff, and hair loss.

In order to find the perfect shampoo for yourself, try various products. If you are unsure about which product to use, ask your doctor for advice.

Another thing to remember when talking about a receding hairline is that excessive washing can cause hair loss. If you shampoo your hair every day, then you are damaging your hair. Excessive shampooing means your hair can become dry easily. Dry hairs fall off quickly.  In case the hair loss is severe, a good option for restoring your look is hair transplant and you should know that there are several cost effective hair transplant destinations like Turkey, Thailand, India or Mexico. ?

Sometimes pulling or touching your hair can also cause hair loss, especially if your hair is thin. This is not that common, but if a receding hairline is hereditary, then it would be better to not touch your hair that often. The logic behind this is that touching your hair too much can make them greasy. It can pull your hair from their follicles, which causes hair loss.

Decreasing Stress

As mentioned above, stress is a major factor when it comes to hair loss. Hence, it is essential to reduce the levels of your stress. You can do this by avoiding stressful events or by avoiding thinking about stressful things.

Another great way to reduce this would be to engage in meditation or to exercise. You can try deep breathing exercises when you feel stressed out. Keep inhaling and exhaling for a few seconds until you feel relieved. You could also go for a walk or engage in yoga exercises. Research has shown that such exercises greatly help to reduce cortisol and epinephrine levels— both of which increase under stress.

Make Use of Medical Treatments

Many medicines can also prevent baldness.

Rogaine

This is a clinically proven medication. This medication contains minoxidil—an active agent increases the blood flow near the hair follicles. This stimulates hair growth and prolongs it.

You can rub this medication where you are losing hair, and it will prevent your hair from receding further. However, if you want this drug, consult your doctor.

The best thing about this medication is that it is available for both men and women.

Propecia

According to Click Pharmacy, testosterone can lead to increased hair loss. This is where this medication comes in handy. This medicine needs to be prescribed, but it is FDA approved and recommended by dermatologists. You can take it in a pill form. Once you have the pill, the finasteride inside the pill prevents the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone, which then prevents hair loss.

The only downside of these drugs is that they are typically consumed by men.

Other Medications

Other medications, like dutasteride, are also a good alternative, especially for men. Women can also use oral contraceptives and spironolactone.

Hair Transplant

Another treatment method that is more commonly known is hair transplant. In this method, also known as Follicular Unit Extraction, the doctor removes the hair from the back or side of your head and moves them to the front of your head. As the hair at the back is less affected by testosterone, there is a greater chance that they will not become that thin.

Try Supplements

Biotin supplements are a great remedy for preventing further hair loss. It may not help in re-growing of hair, but it helps to thicken existing hair, making them stronger.

These supplements can be consumed by eating biotin-rich foods such as cooked eggs, mushrooms, bananas, soybeans, etc.

Having a good diet is also essential to prevent baldness. Eating food rich in protein and iron can strengthen hair. Eat fruits, vegetables, and foods rich in Vitamin B.

You can also buy biotin supplements from a local drug store and take them in tablet form.

All the methods above can prevent your hairline from receding and save you from baldness. We recommend using a combination of these treatments to get the best results.
