Officially as of My 2024, I have now been to Italy 14 times (spanning back to 2008) yet I have still only scratched the surface of this country and only been to 14 cities in it! This as well as border crossing into Seborga, San Marino, SMOOM, Vatican City and Venice, all of which I recognise as separate from Italy itself. In May 2024, my lust to backpack up the hills to Seborga meant I had a few options getting there. The best of these for me, was to base myself in Bordighera for a couple of days. What an inspired spot and a lovely city!
I booked into the Hotel Lucciola and loved my time in Bordighera. Hotel Lucciola is well located up a hill near the old town and near the city centre (new town) – it is also only 10 minutes walk from the beach and train station (which is by the coast). Here is the hotel from the outside.
My Room at Hotel Lucciola
I had my own room in this hotel – I had a double bed in a spacious room which also had a balcony, a shower room, a desk, Wi-Fi, a television and some snacks and drinks. It was lovely.
The room included a balcony, an old school “house phone”, a landline telephone! I also had tea and coffee and Wi-Fi in what was a great brace of days in lovely Bordighera!
Breakfast is served downstairs from 8.00 a.m. until 10 a.m. and includes the usual mix – cereals, toast, bread, cheese, fruit, ham, yoghurts. There is also coffee tea and a range of juices.
