Creative Jobs You Won’t Get Bored Of

What’s not that well known, is that there are a myriad of creative career paths out there that allow you to do just that, you just have to look for them. This post will take you through some creative jobs that you won’t get bored of as you would a traditional 9-5 office job.

Architect

Architecture is the field of designing buildings, which could range from developmental apartment projects to never before seen skyscrapers. A job for the artsy, architecture requires exceptional artistic skills from both a physical and digital perspective.

Not only utilising a knack for art, architecture also requires mathematical prowess for calculation of the dimensions and proportions of buildings, to ensure they maintain their structural integrity.

As architecture is a lucrative profession, it goes without saying that it isn’t an easy job that you can merely acquire overnight. An architectural degree can take up to 5 years to complete, with practical experience also requiring bumping that up to 7-8 years.

However, the effort is worth it if you’re passionate about work that will hold true meaning for years to come. You’ll have a say in helping shape city planning and have a career that’s truly rewarding where you literally get to see your work come to life, whilst also being creative all at the same time.

Blogger

If you love tweeting and dropping comments on socials, why don’t you try to channel that into a blog covering a niche that encompasses all of your passions?

Whilst it is lesser known, blogging, if done right, can result in a very rewarding career path, allowing many to (literally) chase their dreams and make money from what they’re most passionate about.

Whether your passion is fashion, travelling, cooking, improving your health or even striving to be the best parent and sharing tips, blogging is a very creative option for many, as it allows people to think outside the box, and combines witty writing, photography for some,  with a true purpose of their choosing.

The very best bloggers can make 5-7 figures a year, from various channels such as on-site advertising, brand collaborations and sponsorships. Did we mention that this can be done entirely home-based too?

Mural painter

Some people are natural born artists, and with the changing neo world, the demand for mural art is only rising. Muralists are specialists in the creation of artistic works on walls, buildings and bridges in bustling cities, responsible for brightening the everyday mundane world of city life.

To become a muralist you must first establish yourself with a solid portfolio. This could come from offering free or cheap murals initially, by working with local communities for instance. The role involves a keen understanding of how to understand a project’s briefing, propose and executive original ideas, and most importantly, maintaining consistency in their quality of work.

If you have no portfolio it’ll be best to use social media as your tool of choice, perhaps starting out painting on a smaller canvas, until you get the opportunities to do so on a larger scale.

Photography

One of the few career paths that virtually anyone can pick up, photography is a creative profession that even the most novice of camera enthusiasts can develop a knack for.

Much like art, photography is about developing your own style with things, in which case, practice truly makes perfect, and you simply can’t rush the art form. You can start out just by taking photos of scenes around your neighbourhood, travelling and capturing the tourist attractions from your perspective, or even snapping your daily diet.

Photography

The thing about photography is that it can be so vast as a career path. Depending on your passion you can open yourself up to various paths, be it product photography, street photography, family portraits or wedding photography.

All of which are viable options that can prove very lucrative, paid at a project level and even longer term contract level. You don’t even need a degree to pursue this path, you do need to invest in a decent camera, though.

Voice over

Another career path that doesn’t require a university degree, voice over artistry allows those who choose to chase the path to explore the world of marketing, a role which requires the mastery of tonation and vocal delivery.

Voice Overs

Voice overs aren’t only required for commercial use. Other than their use in radio and television ads, voice overs are sought after for a variety of purposes, such as narration of tutorials, audiobooks, voicemail recording and even for use in gaming and animations (for the best of the best).

You don’t need a degree to pursue this job, and you can make a lot of money in the field, with the most notorious of voices leaving true legacies and starring in various roles from animation to video game characters.

The creative role (as a general voice over) also allows you to work from home, so long as you have a solid home studio to your disposal. This will take some initial investment, requiring a microphone, soundproofing of your chosen room, and some basic recording software.

Musician

Of the list, becoming a musician is certainly the most creative of them all. Considering the role cannot simply be summarised in a mere sentence.

Musicians can range from singers and performing artists to pianists, drummers and those who make up choirs and orchestras. You only really need a true passion for music, be proficient in a few instruments or have a reputation for singing, and you can make a life out of it, even teach it if that’s your preference.

The market for creative writing will always be open. You could be the next Stephen King, Earnest Hemingway, or any other of your favourite writers out there.
