Monday Morning Reflection: Travel In 2026 Doesn’t Impress Anyone Anymore

Where do the years go? I cannot believe it was TEN (10) years ago that I based myself in magnetic Kyrgyzstan🇰🇬, mostly Bishkek. Life was good. Travel was easy. Making money through this blog was easy.

At the time, I was a total nomad, a wandering leaf with no home, I had no idea where I would go next. This blog page peaked around that time (March – April 2016) and I am glad I did so much of that cheapskate whackpacking in my 20s and 30s. I am 45 now, I have less energy for it.

Plus also notably – travel in 2026 doesn’t impress anyone anymore. Nobody gets impressed by somebody else backpacking Afghanistan, Burkina Faso or Romkerhall.

Everyone has been everywhere now to the point that everyone else’s lives are boring! Nothing is new anymore!

Still, I enjoyed my time in the limelight for a few years before the fake news generation, the mask loyalists and the war promoters intervened into our lives. As Paul Hewson once said “we need new dreams tonight”.
