Staying At the Rose🌹Palace🏰 Hotel🏨 In Lahore, Pakistan 🇵🇰
My first port of call in my final Stan was Lahore, in Pakistan. Whilst not the capital, this city is a pumping colossus of the Pakistani heart. The capital, Islamabad I was skipping, leaving it for another day. In Pakistan, I would visit the sights of Lahore, the border ceremony at Wagah, Shahdara Bagh and Karachi. But it all began here at the truly splendid and welcoming Rose Palace Hotel.
I organised an eVisa for Pakistan in advance and although this was quite tricky, I got it and was ready to arrive. After arriving into Lahore International Airport, they checked my eVisa and gave me a mere stamp in my passport, I was ready for a sleep in this lovely hotel.
The Rose Palace Hotel, Gulberg
The Rose Palace Hotel is in the Gulberg District of Lahore. This was a perfect first stop in Pakistan with a warm welcome. It was a very cool and stylish hotel and I must admit, for whatever reason it reminded me of my very first night in Bangladesh. On that night, in August 2015, I stayed at the Nagar Valley Hotel in Uttara, Bangladesh.
My Room At The Rose Palace Hotel, Gulberg
I was upstairs, just above the reception area and I was in Room 548. I had an ensuite. The room was so cosy and comfortable. I truly loved this introduction to Pakistan and suddenly, I was satisfied that my final Stan, here had fallen on Pakistan.
Breakfast At The Rose Palace Hotel, Gulberg
Breakfast had so many choices that I tried my best to sample a bit of everything during my two mornings here. Three juices, cereals, yoghurts, cakes, honey, salad, tea and coffee for starters. Vegetables, spicy Pakistani dishes, a range of breads. There was a lot of food to choose in the huge dining area.
I was extra hungry the first morning after I woke, due to my flights the previous day.
Staff At The Rose Palace Hotel, Gulberg
The staff were very friendly and welcoming, always smiling. Smiling is a recurring theme when backpacking in Pakistan.
There was good Wi-Fi, I had a lovely bathroom and a great chill out zone. One night I ate locally at the Sarhad Restaurant, the next night I got lazy and ate local spicy pizza and fake beer in my room watching TV.
From my base here, I was able to backpack the sights of Lahore as well as visit nearby Shadarah Bagh and the incredible border ceremony at Wagah.
