Known as one of the two Special Administrative Regions of the People’s Republic of China, Macau’s history stretches back as far as 6,000 years ago, and includes many different and diverse civilizations. However, not only is the city of Macau historically rich, but it also offers unique casinos which operate under a government franchise.
1. The Venetian Macao
This 39-story luxury hotel and casino resort in Macau is owned by the Las Vegas Sands, and it is a $2.4 billion anchor for the seven hotels on the Cotai Strip in Macau. The Venetian is the largest casino in the world, and the largest single structure hotel building in Asia, with 2,905 suites, and floors which reach 38 levels.
2. Casino Lisboa
Known for being one of the most famous hotel casinos in Macau, China, Casino Lisboa is a three-story complex that was built in late 1960s. The casino is an iconic building set in the heart of Macau, and is a testament to extraordinary elegance with its distinctive location and architectural design. It offers 12 acclaimed restaurants and 24-hour entertainment. Visitors to the casino will find easy access to 15 acclaimed restaurants as well as the city’s prime tourist attractions.
3. Altira Macau
Formerly known as Crown Macau, Altira Macau, Altira is a casino located in Taipa, Macau, China. You will be spoiled for choice at the casino thanks to its large array of games, which include 220 gaming tables, 500 gaming machines, and 216 guest rooms. The casino has 38 floors at a height of 160 meters, and it is also recorded as the highest building in Taipa.
4. Sands Macao
Located in Macau Peninsula, Sands Macao is owned and operated by the Las Vegas Sands Corporation. The casino offers top rated restaurants, luxurious suites and exciting entertainment and world-class facilities. The casino opened on May 18, 2004 at a cost of $240 million. The Sands Macao is definitely your go-to casino if you’re looking for world class entertainment with a touch of class.
5. Galaxy
Galaxy Macau is one of my favourites. It’s an elaborate building and boasts an exciting gaming experience like no other. Spanning over 420,000 square feet and across a few floors in a building which also houses a hotel, and just like live casinos at Euro Palace, the casino offers many gaming options and entertainment, which gives you more ways to win.
I’ve been backpacking in Macau a few times, it’s easy to reach from Hong Kong or China by ferry or land.
