There was always the option to incorporate a trip to Wilson’s Prom into my road trip.
Wilson’s Prom is Wilson’s Promontory National Park, which has a lot of animals and also the marker of the southernmost point of mainland Australia.
Hardly anything exciting for me when I’d already past Wilson’s Prom on a boat, and had spent a whole 5 months further south in Australia working and exploring Tasmania. So it was bypassed.
I didn’t have any small maps on me, only the big one of Australia, which wasn’t detailed in the minor roads, so I decided a morning stop at Foster would be in order to check out the Tourist Information Office and get a few maps and details on places of interest on the route up to Sydney.
The lady in the Foster Tourist Information was very helpful, and I now had about 4 decent maps all the way up as far as Sydney, as well as some details on the towns and attractions on route, of which I highlighted Malacoota, Kiama and 90 Mile Beach as three places I should definitely stop at.
She also told me the road to Sydney was very straight and at night there wouldn’t be too many animals on the road, which was a pleasant change from the roadkill levels of Tasmania.
