In 2016, I finally gave some airtime to Belgium. Yes, I had been before but I breezed through it on a road trip with my German mate Rene. After Northern Ireland got knocked out of the Euros in France, I made the fast decision to head on a Megabus to Brussells and after seeing some urinations, I then toured Ghent, Bruges and Antwerp. For Bruges (or Brugge) I chose the quirky themed hostel Charlie Rockets to stay in and it was an inspired choice.
Here are some of the cool things about staying at Charlie Rockets when you backpack through Bruges.
1.Cool Bar Downstairs
The Charlie Rockets Bar downstairs is brilliant. Big live screen TV for sports, a pool area out the back, good food and well priced drinks.
2.In the Heart of Bruges
Bruges is a sexy city of love. It is often deemed the “Venice of Belgium”. When you stay at Charlie Rockets, you are in the heart of the action here on Hoogstraat near all the main sights – like the main square, the oldest pub in town and the famous Church of the Holy Blood.
3.Breakfast for 4 Euros
You can get a neat breakfast for 4 Euros at Charlie Rockets and food is also served here all day – there’s a hearty menu to choose from.
4.My Heavenly Sleep
I was in an upstairs dorm room and I had a real heavenly sleep. You see, I had been in France for the football and overdosed on singing, drinking and late nights. Here at Charlie Rockets I got a heavenly sleep, the longest sleep in ages and I was fresh before my journey to Antwerp.
