So you might have read my post about working over Christmas and got a bit down heartened and thought – hold on this guy likes to travel, why is he talking about working over Christmas? Well don’t worry! This post is all about an amazing Christmas travel experience I had last year. It was Christmas Eve 2011, Kim Jong Il had just died and I decided to do the DMZ Tour in Korea. I was based in Seoul and travelling with my girlfriend.
We boarded the bus in Seoul early morning with a coffee in some minus 16 degrees of cold Korean air. This was only the start of an amazing day!! We managed to see Paju, Imjingak, Freedom Bridge, the JSA, Panmunjom and the North Korea flag, and officially of course we stood in North Korea. A magical Christmas and re-lived by my posts below, all very detailed and in chronological order:
Part 1 – Leaving my soul for Paju
Part 4 – Dorasan Station – Next Train to Pyongyang, please!
Part 7 – Camp Bonifas, the JSA and Crazy Golf
Part 8 – Stepping into North Korea at Panmunjom
Part 9 – Flag at Half Mast in North Korea
Part 10 – The Bits We Missed (and my fascination for North Korea)
Part 11 – Heading Back to Seoul
Part 12 – DMZ Tour Souvenirs
