Who countrifies an ocean? Seriously!

And the answer is INDIA.🇮🇳Nutheads.

The only country in the world to countrify an ocean and claim it as theirs is INDIA – well it’s not yours. Hands off, India. I am renaming it The Africalasian Ocean to decountrify it and neutrify it. It is NOT Indian. Thank God it’s not, as if it was it would be full of rubbish!

I always tried to avoid backpacking India, but sooner or later in my jigsaw I knew I’d have to nab it and that came via a sponsored trip and free visa invite back in 2016. I was based in magnetic Kyrgyzstan at the time in Bishkek, and so I got my Indian Visa in Bishkek.

My Indian Visa

A year before that, I had already transitpacked India away. I flew from Kuwait into Mumbai, transited the airport for a few hours then flew from Mumbai to Hong Kong. Proof of course that you don’t even need an Indian Visa to transitpack the country.

Later in life, I transitpacked India twice more. On the second time I did that, they tried to illegally ban me from entering the airport from abroad and leaving the same terminal for abroad.

Screw you, India, I have decountrified “your ocean”. It was never ever yours. Even Sri Lanka and The Maldives would deserve it more.

  • This blog really caught my attention with its bold take on the naming of the Indian Ocean. I like how you challenge conventional ideas and bring in your personal travel stories from Mauritius and India—it makes the post both thought-provoking and entertaining. The mix of humor and critique gives it a unique voice. Definitely a refreshing read that sparks conversation!

  • Hi Danjay, thanks for the comment. Yes it is totally ridiculous that the country of India tried to countrify an ocean! Let’s call it the Africalasian Ocean from now on. Neutral days loyal. Safe travels. Jonny
