Moving On To Olsztyn🏞️: The Last Van🚐(Train🚂)Out Of Warszawa’s Definitely Gone

Moving On To Olsztyn🏞️: The Last Van🚐(Train🚂)Out Of Warszawa’s Definitely Gone

“I travelled round the world from year to year, and each one found me aimless, one more year the worse for wear…I tried to find a place to settle down where my mixed up life could mend” – Cold Chisel.

I’ve moved on again. While I’m not yet 60 years old, I reflect on almost my six decades on this planet in these sections…

Decade 1 – conceived in the 1970s.
Decade 2 – child in the 1980s.
Decade 3 – teenager in the 1990s.
Decade 4 – world tourist in the 2000s. Decade 5 – global whackpacker in the 2010s.
Decade 6 – a lost soul.

“A lonely soul is baking up her mother’s pride” – Liam Gallagher.

Life became aimless. Life became stale. Nobody is impressed by anything anymore. COVID ruined a lot of enthusiasm, so did the ensuing wars between Russia and Ukraine and Israel and Palestine. Warszawa had run its course. Gdansk, Warszawa and now Olsztyn…

It’s an era where people who put a photo on Instagram and fakeily call themselves “bloggers” (sorry – you’re not – bloggers write online blogs); YouTubers earn millions mixing cocktails without having ever worked in a bar; girls think Tinder dates are trustable yet meeting a real man in a real situation is weird (sorry – you’re the weirdos – those of us in bars are the real people)! That hat-trick in itself is enough to make me puke intill the bucket list wannabes. Remember my rant? So I hired a van and moved away.

And I didn’t even mention the insulting modern day “influencers”. Remember, my top two influencers in life aside from my parents are George Best and Noel Gallagher. Those lads are proper influencers. They’ll make it into my books and blogs.

My New Book: 💚STARO🌟GARD🏰GIRL🩷👱‍♀️Is Released

I just released my eight printed book, Starogard Girl and I love it. That was a weight off my shoulder and I decided on a change. I’ll write the next books, the next chapter of my life in Poland’s “Lake District”.

I hired a van and I drove north to Olsztyn.

“It’s never too late to make a brand new start” – Paul Weller.

And now I go back to the start again. Restart.

“Don’t look back when you’re leaving town” – Doves.

I moved north to Olsztyn very quickly, it happened so fast and unexpected. I live near a lake, a river, the old town and life will slow down a notch here. I’ll reflect on it all soon. Tonight I’ll watch Northern Ireland play Belarus neutral. 10 years ago, I was at Winnsy P watching us bate the Faroe Islands and then I slept in the swanky Europa Hotel. Those were my golden days of being a travel blogger. I was ahead of my time.

“Don’t look back cos you know what you might see” – Noel Gallagher.

And here 10 years on I now live in Olsztyn. I’ll see what I can make of it. The blog is 17 years old and this probably needs a refresh and revamp too now. I’ve been focusing on printed books the last 5 years, which has been needed as I now have 8 printed books released…

My next book will be called “Average Inhabitant”!! AVERAGE INHABITANT!!📈🧮🧠🧍‍♂️This will be Volume 3 from my This Is The Next Century series and tracks my journey from January 2018 to March 2020 just before COVID. This Is The Next Century’s Volume 1 was “Aftershot”🥃💉☢️💣🟪🟨🟦, Volume 2 was Starogard Girl⭐🏰👱🚺. Why is it called “Average Inhabitant”? It’s because a girl I fell in love with once told me “Oh my gosh Jonny, you have seen more of this city than the average inhabitant!!”. The book will mostly be written in the lake district of Poland!

Arrival in my new flat in Olsztyn with all my stuff

“Why can’t you stay here a while? Stay here awhile. Stay with me. Oh, oh, oh, All the promises we made” – Dolores O’Riordan.

As I drove out of Warszawa that day, the first song that came on the radio randomly on the city boundary was The Cranberries – Promises. A great tune, textbook Dolores, and lovely lyrics.

Arrival In Olsztyn, as a resident!

On a final note, I had to drive back to Warszawa to leave the van back to Dostawczaki.eu and then after that I cleaned my old room, moved out of our flat, had my last meal and drink in Warszawa and got a train back to Olsztyn. So here I am!

“Go and tell it to the man who cannot shine” – Noel Gallagher.

I’ll keep you all updated!
