“Time flies” – Oasis compilation album.
Time really does fly. From my first ever radio listen of Oasis in April 1994 on a Radio One session, before finally getting into buying CDs and cassette tapes of Oasis, it has been a wild 31 years. In the early years of Oasis, 1994 to 1998 I owned every CD single, album, video, rare release and a load of bootleg and other memorabilia. It was a great time to be alive. Be Here Now and August 1997 felt like a massive peak, and I later backpacked Saint Vincent on a Noel Gallagher pilgrimage. I had just started a course at Tech in Belvoir in Belfast and life was wild.
“Wash your face in the morning sun” – Noel Gallagher.
So just a quick post today as I am sentimental ahead of my return to Cork, Dublin and Belfast – three places where I have Oasis memories. Next week will finally be my 15th Oasis concert, dating way back to 1996 when I made my debut at Cork away. Exactly 20 years later, I made another pilgrimage to it when I returned to Cork.
But here in 2025, it will be my first Oasis concert for 17 years. That’s unfathomable. Since the last one in Bournemouth in 2008, a person could have been born and passed their driving test!
Since my debut in August 1996, almost 29 years to the day to my comeback gig, I was at 14 Oasis concerts.
I’ve listed the ones I was at below. I also tried to get tickets for Poole in 2005 and couldn’t. Oasis have only played as a band in Poland only ONCE. That was in the year 2000 on the Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants tour. In contrast, the band have played in Northern Ireland EIGHT times! And I was at 3 of them, 4 in Republic of Ireland and 7 in England. I have also seen Noel Gallagher live at Hong Kong away and 4 different “tribute bands”. #oasis
