Staying at the Best Budget Hotel in Andorra🇦🇩: Residencia Nuria in Escaldes Engordany.

As a long term traveller who works on the move and aims to help others travel, there’s always a part of me thinking “where can I stay in Andorra that will help my readers budget in this country?” and so a quick online check revealed the best budget hotel yet still pure luxury (standard in Andorra!). It was the Hotel Residencia Nuria. It’s not situated in the capital city of Andorra La Vella, but in the neighbouring town Escaldes Engordany and was my base while exploring Andorra. After getting my border bus from Barcelona Airport to Andorra, I got dropped off at the top of the street and went to check in.

Quite simply Andorra exceeded all expectations I had of it, and has definitely made me think about returning here someday. One of the key factors in that was the Hotel I stayed in. A perfect base. Here are my favourite 5 things about the Hotel Residencia Nuria.

1. Excellent Rooms
Believe it or not, this was the first hotel in Europe I had stayed in for almost 6 years (the previous one was actually the San Pierre Park in Guernsey in 2009!). In the intervening years I had only stayed in hostels and with friends and family on my few visits back to Europe. So imagine my shock when I saw my excellent room. Comfy beds, great views of the street, sockets that worked (remember I was used to power cuts in Central America) and best of all hot water in the shower so I could actually feel clean for once.

2. Fast Wi-Fi in Every Room
I loved the novelty of this – yes some Central American hostels had been great for wi-fi but here at Residencia Nuria, the wifi worked constantly and worked fast. It was good to be back in Europe. Great view to get some work done to as well.

3. Breakfast Included
Hotel Residencia includes breakfast in the room rate and I loved the coffee, orange juice and cheese baguette. One confession though, the first morning, I slept in as I hadn’t slept in a bed in about 3 days and missed my breakfast!!

4. Great Staff
I was made to feel at home by Carlos, Gloria and Lola. Carlos and Gloria run the hotel and are a very friendly couple. Lola is the resident West African bird and in many ways is the star of the show.

Just after I took a picture of Lola, she mimicked the noise my camera makes when it clicks! I was laughing so much!

5. Perfect Location
Hotel Residencia Nuria is the perfect location for me, because it’s in the heart of the town Escaldes Engordany and right next to the capital Andorra La Vella. You’re just 5 minutes walk from Caldea, the best Spa centre in Europe and just a few minutes walk from the main pedestrian street in Escaldes Engordany – lots of cafes, bars and restaurants.
