Let me start with a shock for you. Obvious European cities never did much for me. I never had any intention of visiting places like Paris, Munich, Rome, Madrid and Barcelona. But the travel lifestyle is unpredictable. While looking for a cheap flight from New York to Europe, Barcelona and Madrid came top. I opted for Barcelona so I could see Andorra too as well as catch up with cousin Paul. I wanted to do the backpacking thing but in a hostel with my own room so I could get some work done and not be tempted by wild nights out.
As happened in days of the past. Then I found the cosy Hostal Barcelona online and realised this place is perfect – it has the name of a hostel, the style of a guesthouse and the luxury of a hotel. In short – it’s the best hostel in Barcelona! It kind of fits my backpacking lifestyle at the moment and was a great base while touring the Nou Camp, Sagrada Familia and the awesome food tour in Gracia. I stay in less dorms than I used to these days you know. Here are 5 pure fire reasons why I loved Hostal Barcelona and recommend it for anyone who wants to visit Barcelona on a budget but still avoid the party lifestyle of a younger backpacker.
1. Very Cosy Rooms
For a hostel, it feels like a hotel. Cosy cosy rooms here in Hostal Barcelona. Here’s the proof!
2. Location: Perfect
For so many reasons, this location is perfect for anyone. Here are the main reasons I loved the location:
– Not on La Rambla the touristy hub
– 20 minute walk from the top of Montjuic with incredible views
– 3 minute walk from Paral-lel metro station
– Loads of bars and restaurants on the streets around the hostal
– Still quiet at night
– Easy walking distance to the city if you wanted (I still stuck to the metro though!)
3. In Room Wi-Fi
Not just in room wi-fi here but fast in room wi-fi. I loved my late nights sitting on the bloggers desk in my room just working with a coffee or a beer.
4. Relaxation
In a city as big and bustling as Barcelona, I often thought it might be hard to get some quiet time. But here it was easy. Lock your door and once inside the room, it was quiet and tranquil and really peaceful.
5. Massive Breakfast Selection
The choice of food for breakfast here are Hostal Barcelona was mega! From cereals, to croissants, to bread rolls with cheese and ham, jam, yoghurts, fruit plus a proper coffee machine. Really set me up for my days of sightseeing in Barcelona.
So if you’re heading to Barcelona, hit up the cool Hostal Barcelona and tell them you read about it here on Don’t Stop Living!
