The last city on my whirlwind Balkans and Eastern Europe trip fell on Podgorica, Montenegro. This somewhat unknown and obscure capital city shot out at me when I realised a cheap Ryanair flight from Podgorica to Stansted came up at a nice €20 Euros! So my final night in the Balkans I wanted a place to chill and one that would be near enough to the airport and based in the capital city of Montenegro – Podgorica.
There is a backpacker’s hostel in Podgorica apparently but I chose to stay in a 3 Star Hotel this time and I needed it. Having looked up the excellent Hotel Keto online, I reckoned straight away this was the perfect place for my last night in Montenegro. And it turned out to be a real gem. If you want some tranquility, luxury and cosiness in Podgorica, then this is the spot for you, it’s better than some 4 stars I’ve stayed at. Here are 5 reasons to stay at the Hotel Keto.
1. Comfortable Rooms
Well – on my last night in this region I was definitely feeling travel burn out for once. The last few weeks had been crazy – jumping from bed to bed from night train to bus, from church to mosque and sleep had been neglected.
It was all put right here in Hotel Keto in my truly cosy room for the night. Brilliant night’s sleep – thanks guys!
Also a nice view from the window and a clean bathroom.
2. Welcoming Staff
On arrival I am welcomed by Jelena and Dejana with a nice smile, a quick introduction into the hotel. I get a map and am left to the privacy of my room. What customer service should be. Same on leaving, I was given a “safe travels” and ordered a taxi to the airport.
3. Fast Wi-Fi
I got into my bedroom, turn on my laptop and hey Presto – fast Wi-Fi! Something which is definitely not a given in these parts but Hotel Keto gave me a chance to answer my emails, get my blogs up to date and plan my trip onwards to Scotland and England.
4. Mega Breakfast
The breakfast was a big thing for me. With a busy day of travel ahead, I wanted a hotel that included breakfast – I wanted an early morning feed and didn’t fancy traipsing round town looking for a cafe when I had a flight later that day.
It was even better when I arrived in the cafe for breakfast – an all you can eat buffet with a huge range of food and drink. Tea, juice, cereal, bacon, eggs, cheese, salad, yoghurts etc. Such a big variety and the photos will tell the story here…
5. Bar and Restaurant
If you get hungry or thirsty at night, there is no need to even venture out into town, the bar and restaurant here is fully equipped selling local and international treats.
Podgorica is a tranquil and chilled out capital city and I toured the sights of it but also loved the relaxed vibe. If you really want a quiet cosy night here, head to the Hotel Keto and rest your backpacking bones. I also toured Kotor and stayed at the Old Town Kotor Hostel there.
