World Travellers: Henrik Jeppesen From Every Country In The World Dot Com

The latest in my World Travellers Series is Henrik Jeppesen. Henrik needs no introduction for those in the Chasing Countries and Every Passport Stamp groups, as Henrik has already managed to visit every country in the world. Not only that, but it’s the name of his website – Every Country In The World Dot Com. Over to Henrik…

  1. Who are you?

My name is Henrik Jeppesen. I’m a traveller from Denmark. I have visited all the world’s countries, and I’m the founder of everycountryintheworld.com.

  1. Where are you from?

I am from Denmark. I grew up in Denmark, close to where Denmark later got their first national park.

  1. Where have you been?

I have been to every country in the world, and 300 countries and territories combined. I have also done many other things, like I have visited all the provinces of South Africa and 33 American states.

  1. Where are you now?

I am in Tallinn, Estonia, where I moved with my wife earlier this year.

  1. What are the top 3 places you visited?

It’s hard to say. South Africa is one of my favourite countries for the people, the diversity, cost of living, adventure, stunning nature, beaches, and the people. New Zealand has extraordinary nature, great culture, a relaxed and pleasant place to be. Italy must be another favourite for its fantastic food, great culture, and a number of things to see and do.

  1. What is the best travel experience you’ve had?

It was probably South Georgia Island because it was fantastic to experience this territory in the South Atlantic Ocean, with all the penguins and stunning scenery.

  1. What is the worst travel experience you’ve had?

Well, there’s been a few, just the other day, I was in an ambulance in Tallinn. For the first time, I desperately needed an ambulance and decided to call the equivalent of 911 here in Estonia. I was in significant pain because of a kidney stone issue. But I’ve also had many other bad experiences, like food poisoning in India. I have had daily pain for almost two years because of a jaw issue and been to 35 specialists. That’s absolutely terrible and I of course hope to find a solution someday.

  1. What is the funniest travel experience you’ve had?

I don’t know if there is anything I consider particularly funny, but I’ve met many great people who have made me laugh.

  1. What is the scariest travel experience you had?

Again, it’s about the worst experiences. For example, when I went to emergency in Bali because of something I ate there. I need to be careful about what I eat while travelling, especially outside Europe.

  1. What is the most random job you have had on your travels?

The most random job I’ve had is when I helped a hotel in Italy, becoming part of the prestigious Relais and Châteaux collection of hotels, but that is quite some years ago now.

  1. How do you fund your travels?

I have funded my travels through partnerships, blogging, YouTubing, public speaking, writing articles, and several other things.

  1. What 3 tips would you give a new traveller before they set off on their adventure?

One start in your own country, then neighbouring countries, and get comfortable with travel before you do a big adventure. I think it’s essential to be prepared for travelling in countries with a much different culture than your own. That might be much different than your own. Another tip is to focus on cheaper destinations when you start; in that way, you’ll be able to finance more travels, so it’s good to check the cost of living in various countries. Tip number three, prioritize your health. It’s so easy to eat junk food, continuously. Instead, it’s a good idea to prioritize your health by booking places with access to a kitchen or invest in a portable blender so you can make cheap, delicious food while travelling.

  1. What are your future travel plans?

Because of health issues, I don’t know what the future will bring in terms of travel. I hope to become pain-free this year and show my wife some of the most romantic places in the world.
