This page aims to give an extensive overview of EVERYWHERE I have been on my travels, the second most asked question I get asked is “Where have you been?” (after “How can you afford to travel so much?”) As of October 2023, I’ve been to:

I will try to keep this list as up to date as I can and it will include links to each page listing those places or at least articles that those places have featured in. Having searched the web for other travel blogs, there isn’t a single other one man travel blog that has visited all seven continents and written over 5,000 travel stories in the last 18 years, since its 2007 inception.

What is a country/significant region?

I have my own opinion on what is a country (or significant region) and what is not. For example I am a proud Northern Irishman and therefore Northern Ireland is a country to me. As is Hong Kong – it is separate from China in my eyes. I don’t class the United Kingdom as a country at all – to me it’s a kingdom of real countries and several island states and micronations. I am a nationalist and a separatist. I am a Northern Irish nationalist and a Northern Irish separatist. I am always sceptical of tourists who trust global media and global wannabe organisations like the UN, FIFA, UEFA, EU and UK. I don’t recognise any of those as legitimate.

So for this list I have used my own definition of a country, as well as using some from The British Government list, The Traveller’s Century Club list of “Countries and Territories”. Their list are very sceptical as it includes Tasmania, Alaska etc. as “territories geographically separated from their homeland”, but that is the logic they have used to include Northern Ireland, while the British Government don’t even recoginse England or Northern Ireland as countries. There is a possible 325 on the TCC list and 226 on the BG list. I have also thought about including only FIFA countries on this list, but that doesn’t include Antarctica, Adammia or Guernsey, all of which I recognise. But as for my 100 country journey, I used the FIFA list, which I have since changed my mind on. Tunisia wasn’t really my 100th country in 2015, it was actually earlier than that and was Costa Rica in 2014 (and I didn’t know it then!).

I will attempt to keep it as up to date as I can, it will eventually be in five categories:

I’ve based this list partly on the Travellers Century/100 Club list though I don’t quite agree with all of their definitions on there, and I’m sure you also won’t but here’s their list: List of the world’s countries. There are 325 countries or territories on that list. The list below will contain some overlap of places such as Borneo and United Kingdom, included only so you can go to those places in one link and make my site a bit more navigable.

On this list I have included everywhere I have been narrowed down to cities, towns, villages or what I deem to be a significant place. These are listed under the same categories as the countries above, those places in brackets mean I was only there in transit (the bus stopped, the train stopped, I changed flights etc.).

* Those places in brackets are because I have been in that place but not left the vehicle (transit on a bus, train, plane etc.)
